While the concept is outrageously simple, the game is still very addictive. All you have to do is fire up the candle with a heated flaming ball that is burning on top of a glass cube. Using tools like a hammer, a timer bomb, and a pencil, you have to find out innovative ways of dropping the flame ball on the candle. The gameplay becomes even more challenging, considering that you can only use the tools a limited number of times. The levels also get progressively more difficult and require rigorous thinking. Brain Power Puzzle: Burning Up is based on the concepts of physics, so the movement of the ball is very sensitive to any changes around it. There are over 60 challenging levels to keep you engaged and entertained.
The graphics and the whole gameplay experience are no less amusing. At the very outset, a piece of soothing country music greets you, which sounds warm and welcoming. The graphics seem inspired by the retro games, and the default grid-notebook background skin imparts a “technical” appearance. The controls are super easy– it only requires the player to click or draw– and even a child could play the game. Another interesting thing is that you can save the game to cloud storage, so you can retrieve your saved progress any time, even if you delete the game. The concept behind the game and its execution is great, but it does lack in a few areas. For instance, the game is two-dimensional: in an industry that has embraced 3D as a way of life and is increasingly moving towards augmented reality, it appears a tad outdated. The gameplay also could have been made more challenging by incorporating a clock. There is no way of getting rid of those advertisements, either. But because Brain Power Puzzle: Burning Up is probably not intended to be performance-heavy, I would choose not to be unduly harsh here.
