Meditation, yoga, exercise – they all help to keep our bodies and minds fit and functioning at their best. While it’s easy to sign up for a yoga class or exercise session, it’s the meditation that’s hard to find time for. Even if you set aside some time at home to try to meditate, there is always something calling out to you to get done.
Now, you can fit in what is called SOS Method into your schedule, which means all you need is five minutes – any time of day. How can doing meditation for just five minutes make a difference? Well, if you are were doing traditional meditation, it might not do much for you. But, if you are practicing a more modern meditation method, which is offered by an app called SOS Method: Meditation, then there are so many benefits to enjoy.
If this all sounds too good to be true, then read on. What makes these short sessions so effective is what’s called the SOS Method. This method has taken Eastern practices, which typically required longer stretches of dedicated time to achieve results and combined them with some scientific findings to design a way to practice meditation in shorter spurts of time with surroundings sounds that make the shorter session effective.
To start you create an account using an email address or your Facebook account. I had some issues with using the email address option, it took quite some time to get an account set up as the app kept timing out. Once you have an account set up, you will have access to all of the content during the free trial period. After that end, you will need to sign up for either a monthly or yearly subscription. Note that when you sign up for a subscription, the app owner will donate a subscription to someone in need. I found that to be a very generous act on their part.
The app makes is possible to get a lot out of each session by packaging essential elements into each one. Specially selected music, tones and wordings are used create the environment and mindset needed to put complete focus into your meditation. It helps you block out your surroundings and look inward to help cleanse your mind and make it stronger.
If you know exactly what you are looking for in terms in meditation, you will easily find it in the app. Sessions are categorized and the search function works well. If you are a beginner or just want some guidance, then I highly recommend their Quick Start which pieces together modules you can follow to slowly ease your way into your own personalized meditation program.
Overall the app was easy to use, and it made it so easy to insert quick exercises and meditation sessions into my work day. I was skeptical at first, but it actually works.
