Puzzle Place – Make Minimal Moves to Fit Blocks into Position

Puzzle Place app

Block puzzles are fun, but when they are automated and block placement is easier, playing becomes easier and more addictive. That’s what you get when you play Puzzle Place. It’s a simple app, but it can entertain for hours.

Filled with 50 levels of games, Puzzle Place allows users to start slow and work their way up. If you complete a puzzle within the maximum number of allowed moves, you move on to the next level. As you move up in levels, the challenge increases. If you are stumped, simply select on the question mark that is on the bottom of the screen for a hint. All of the pieces will flash, and all you have to do is select one for the app to put in its place.

The question mark will have a small number by it indicating how many hints you have. You earn hints as you complete puzzles within the allotted number of moves. Kind of like in golf where you complete a hole under par.

The playing screen is composed of a black block area and several colored blocks. You have to select each colored block formation and place it in the black block area, making sure to use all pieces and fill in that space. It at any time you want to go back a level to get more practice, simply select the grid like icon located in the bottom right corner and you’ll be all set.

The app also has some ease-of-use features that you can enable or disable as you wish. Select the menu icon located in the bottom left of the screen (it looks like three dashes). The preferences you can adjust are Block Assist, Screen Assist and Sounds. Block Assist lets you tap on a block that you want to move, and the app automatically adjusts it to be closer to the black area, so there is minimal dragging required on your part. Screen Assist always adjusts the screen when you start moving a block out of range, so your visibility of the block you are moving is never compromised.

I found Block Assist to not be very helpful, so I turned it off. The other features were good as is. You can also leave a rating in the App Store or you send feedback to the developer.

Being a free game, you will constantly see ads at the top, which can be annoying, but at least they do not completely stop game play and require you to view them.

If you are looking for a new game that is fun to play and tests your skills on fitting pieces together in an optimal way, then give Puzzle Place a try. It’s a great game for players of all ages.
