Octopus.do – A Visual Sitemapping Sensation

octopus do website

Sitmapping websites help web designers plan out their websites before creating them. This allows the designer to see exactly how the website will flow and where they will put what content, much like mapping out a novel. But just like novels, web designers have different needs based on what they plan to do. Octopus.do has multiple plans fitting those different needs.

In today’s day and age, when starting a business means needing a website, everyone needs to be a bit of a web designer. Octopus.do’s basic plan has you covered. It allows you free access to all the site’s features and support. You get all the wireframes, site mapping generators, color coding, and more all for free. The catch?  You can only work on one project, can’t archive it to start another, can’t access the SEO tags to optimize views, and can’t customize the colors. But if you need only one website then is a great plan.

Many of us, however, don’t just have one stream of income anymore. With side hustles flourishing, some people need more than one website to cover all their different projects, whether it’s for themselves or clients. Then octopus.do’s Pro plan is for you. It allows up to right different projects with the ability to archive them and star others. You can even do cost estimation to charge potential clients the right amount for your work. The only drawback of this plan being you can’t work with others. But if you’re going it alone then it’s a great plan and only seven dollars a month.

Now, what if you have a team you work with? You churn out plenty of websites and could really use the help of a site mapping app? Then octopus.do has two additional plans depending on the size of your team or the number of projects you can work on at a time. At twenty-eight dollars a month, you and five teammates can collaborate on up to thirty-two projects at once. With all the sites features open to you, this plan is perfect for small web companies. But if you’re a larger company with way more than five employees and work on more than thirty-two projects at a time then the eighty-six dollar a month plan is a perfect fit. In addition to all the normal features, you also get priority on support.

The downside that I see with the site, regardless of the plan you choose, is that the only support they offer, outside a short FAQ section, is email communication. So, instead of benign able to quickly solve a problem, you’ll have a long email chain instead. It’ll get the job done, but not as quickly as a live chat or a phone call would.
